Podcast episode: Facebook Marketplace
From the Violating Community Guidelines podcast, which is probably the best shitty podcast I’ve ever heard, is fucking hilarious. I didn’t know Sarah or Brittany at all, probably because I was not yet cool enough for Vine back in the day, and I didn’t realize that the person in that one meme wasn’t just a random couple of photos that said person had no idea was a popular meme format.
Warning for bodily functions jokes, on-air burps and farts, some ableism that is probably not on purpose but it still cringey, and for both Sarah and Brittany to overshare in occasionally horrifying ways. This podcast makes me laugh so hard and it was not easy to pick one episode to share with you, which is why I decided on the first one. I listen with Pocket Casts, and you can also find it on Spotify and Youtube.
Here are links to this episode on Spotify, and on Youtube.
Book: The Way of Kings
I’m so absorbed in this book; it’s what I’d consider high fantasy, by Brandon Sanderson, and is the first book in the Stormlight Archive. Sanderson has been recommended to me multiple times by one of my favorite people, and I’m so happy that I’m enjoying this book. There’s nothing like the awkwardness of not liking a thing that someone is so sure you’ll like. I’m reading this book on Kindle. I prefer physical books and not to buy them from Amazon, but my hands don’t always do well holding anything heavier than a Kindle.
Music: Table Song
I don’t know what it is about this song exactly, other than all of it, that I love. I can’t stop listening to it in my head and I love the key it’s in because my post-secondary-puberty voice can actually sing it. It’s catchy and so enjoyable.
“Table Song” is sung by Katie Kuffel —
Pious brother, to your idols
You were shunned, and burned your cradle
You were your own forsaker
My brother Cain, my brother Abel
Pious brother, to your vices
You were shunned, and burned your cradle
Claim killer, you claim martyr
My brother Cain, my brother Abel— lyric selection from Table Song
Game: Breathedge
You know how sometimes, the thing that makes you feel better is putting yourself in danger, except in a fictional/digital/virtual reality? This game is that. It’s not a permadeath game, but you’re in space with limited oxygen and in order to accomplish your tasks — given to you by an obliviously snarky spacesuit AI — you have to plan out and daisy-chain oxygen refill stations and it’s exciting and terrifying and also fun to be in space while knowing that you can reload your save game if things get utterly unsalvageable. There are more funny and interesting things I like about this game but I won’t share them because SPOILERS. I bought this game through Steam and I have been playing it a lot this past week.
Bonus: I didn’t think I’d like this as much as I did
I haven’t watched INSIDE in several months, although I fucking love it and wrote about some of the reasons why it affected me. On YouTube, I discovered THE INSIDE OUTTAKES and it’s over an hour long and it was one of the most interesting things I watched this past week, besides episodes of Loki which I hadn’t seen yet. You might like it too! Click here to see it on YouTube, since it’s not available for embedding right now.
